The Men’s and Women’s European Championships have been carried out a total of 15 times (incl. 2008 Men’s European Handball Championship), in host countries all over Europe. Sixteen of the best national teams take part in each of these events and they continue to reach new heights.
Recently published figures show a continuous upwards spiral, with a cumulative audience in the 2008 men’s event of over 1 billion views and more than 1000 hours of programming.
While preparations are moving fast for the 2008 event in FYR Macedonia and the 2010 event in Austria, the organising countries of the 2012 (2011) events have been allocated. The Member Federations cast their votes on the occasion of the 8th Ordinary EHF Congress on 27 September 2008 in Vienna.
According to their decision, the 2012 (2011) Men’s European Championship will take place in Serbia and the 2012 Women’s European Championship will be held in the Netherlands.
The EHF EURO EVENTs are handball’s greatest event – the organisation of an event of this dimension demands the highest standards, a professional event management strategy, specialists form all fields and a state-of-the-art working foundation and infrastructure. This poses an unique challenge to each and every host, to put their special touch and bring their unique charm to an EHF EURO EVENT.
