The French coach, Claude Onesta, plans to save the power and energy of his key players for the final stage in Lillehammer and will rest a number of key players.
This could have offered the Hungarians the chance to join the French in the semi-final.
But by losing against Iceland, Hungary are out of the race now.
But with another victory against the defending champion they still can hope for a chance to win a ticket to the Olympics qualification tournament.
