The hosting nation welcomes you

The Netherlands is well known for tulips, windmills and water. And for the flat landscape, liquorice and young herring. But also famous as an export country, for the port of Rotterdam and the many well-known international companies. The Netherlands is literally 'the gateway to Europe´.

Being as sporty as the Dutch are, they are keen to retain their position among the top ten countries in the international sporting world. That demands perfect conditions for top sportspeople, trainers and organisations involved in Dutch sport at the highest level. They have great ambitions. That is why the Dutch sporting world has access to optimum infrastructure, a professional marketing machine, enthusiastic sponsors and financial investors.

Land of sports

Land of water, land of Orange and land of sport. Sport plays an important role in the lives of millions of Dutch people. The sporting sentiment dominates, be it in a team context or at the individual level.

Countless sports clubs cherish their enthusiastic members and when it comes to top professional sport, you can´t escape from the famous Orange mania.

Everyone has surely seen the enthusiastic fans: Clothed in orange, they spur on their favourites during international competitions. And even if the national team is not playing, their cheers create a unique atmosphere during matches.

It´s not for nothing that we in the Netherlands say that ”˜sport brings people together´. Winning is important, but it´s the taking part that really counts, of course.
