EHF EURO 2012 Photo Special: Nenad Vuckovic

"A small sign on the building said 'Café and Fitness' explains Hocevar. "Inside, Nenad was there, contemplating his upcoming fitness session."

Nenad knew Uroš was there, but his focus at the beginning of the session was whether or not his injury could withstand the training session ahead.

"The hall was totally dark, except for the daylight from the windows. It was really, really quiet and intimate – you could hear yourself breathing."

A very simple routine, Nenad starts the session with light running, then stretching, explaining to Hocevar the intricacies of the injury to his ankle.

"All you could hear in the hall was the rhythm of his running – that's all. It was like clockwork."

For the only time, Nenad speaks to Hocevar, asking what the time is. Upon the answer Nenad stops the session and starts his warm down.

"When it was over Nenad talked about being injured and how he didn't want to risk anything," said Hocevar. "I want to return for the semi-finals," said Vukovic.

The way back to the hotel after an isolated session gives Nenad the opportunity to think about the road to recovery ahead.

Later, in the physiotherapy room, Vuckovic takes his bandage off for the physio to check his injury and declares himself satisfied after the training.

Vuckovic is very much part of the Serbian team, sitting on the bench throughout games and joining in the celebrations with the players.
