Women´s EHF EURO 2012 Qualification

Between 2 and 16 December 2012 the 2012 EHF Women´s European Championship will take place in the Netherlands. The final tournament will be played with a total of 16 teams.

32 national federations registered for the tournament, including the already qualified host nation Netherlands and titleholders Norway. The remaining 30 registered teams will play for the in total 14 available places in the two-phased qualification for the final tournament.

EHF EURO 2012 Qualification - Phase 1

Phase 1 of the EHF EURO 2012 Qualification will be played in one tournament at one venue on 03-05 June 2011. The organisation rights for this tournament were drawn on 08 April 2011 in Vienna, Austria and gave us the following order:

1. Great Britain
2. Israel
3. Finland
4. Greece

The best two teams from this tournament will go through to the next stage.

EHF EURO 2012 Qualification - Phase 2

Qualification Modus

Phase 2 is played with 7 groups of four teams each, and is played in 6 qualification rounds. The teams finishing in first and second place will qualify to the final tournament.

The draw for the qualification will take place on 27 April 2011 in Leek, Netherlands.

Pots and Seeding

The teams are seeded based on the EHF National Team Ranking valid for the EHF EURO 2012 Qualification.

Pot 1: Russia, Romania, Spain, France, Denmark, Sweden, Germany
Pot 2: Hungary, Croatia, Montenegro, Ukraine, FYR Macedonia, Austria, Serbia
Pot 3: Belarus, Slovakia, Portugal, Iceland, Slovenia, Turkey, Poland
Pot 4: Czech Republic, Lithuania, Italy, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Winner Qualification Phase 1, Second Qualification Phase 1

Further Qualification

The three best ranked teams at the EHF EURO 2012 will qualify directly for the 2013 Women's World Championship in Serbia (IHF Event).
