In average she scored six goals every match. After her sixth and last game at the EHF EURO she became the Netherlands´ top scorer of with 36 goals.

Maura Visser is one of the key players of the Dutch team, which first surprised the Hungarians with a clear victory, but then were absolutely overran by Norway in the final Main Round game.

Ranked fourth in Main Round Group II in Lillehammer, they will depart to Amsterdam on Friday.

But despite only two victories in their six matches Maura Visser draws a positive balance of their EHF EURO campaign.

ehf-euro.com:  Great victory against Hungary, big defeat against Norway - what happened to your team in the last game?

Maura Visser: That is right, we played really good against Hungary, and then this ”˜disaster´ happened against Norway. I have the impression that sometimes we play good, but without success.

In other games - like against Hungary - everything works our perfectly. But despite the defeat against Norway we are aware of our capabilities.

ehf-euro.com:  Some of your colleagues mentioned the lack of experience in your team. Is this a reason for your diverse performances?

Maura Visser: Yes, for sure. We have a really young team with an average age of 21 or 22. So in my opinion we reached good results and have gained experience for upcoming events. Nobody expected anything from us.

From that point of view we were quite successful, as we reached the Main Round and even took the points against Hungary. It´s our best EHF EURO ranking ever, so we can build on this.

ehf-euro.com:  In two years the Netherlands will be the next Women´s EHF EURO host. Did you have that in mind when playing here?

Maura Visser: No, we did not think about EHF EURO 2012 at all. It is still a dream to play at home. But it´s good to know that we don´t have to play any qualification matches for this tournament.

It will be a great occasion to promote our sport and to have some more success.

ehf-euro.com: Looking back at your Main Round start: How big was the disappointment after the close defeat against France, which in the end would have been enough for the travel to Herning and the 5/6 Placement Match?

Maura Visser: We were really sad after this game, as we were very close to an unexpected point or victory. This particular match is an excellent example of lacking experience. With some more routine, we could have won this game.

But this experience will come over the next years. Our team is young and we will play together for some years. It is our great dream to reach the European top teams latest 2012. I hope that we will have the ability to achieve that.

ehf-euro.com:  Despite the defeat against the joint-host: How did you feel when playing in the Håkons Hall of Lillehammer against Norway?

Maura Visser: The atmosphere was incredible. I think it´s the dream of every player to meet a host of a major tournament in a full arena. But now we are looking forward to our next tasks.

ehf-euro.com:   What is your role in the team as top scorer?

Maura Visser: For me good results count, not on the number of goals that I have scored. As I usually take the penalty shots, I now have more goals on my account than my team-mates. It´s always nice to be the top scorer, but it´s far better to have success with the team.
