Format of the Qualification

EHF EURO 2014 qualification will be played between June 2012 (Qualification Phase 1) and June 2013 (Qualification Phase 2).

Qualification Phase 1: Friday 8 June – Sunday 10 June 2012

• Tournament form, one weekend, round-robin system
• 16 lowest ranked teams of the EHF Men’s National Team ranking
• Four groups, six available places in the qualification groups
• The four winners and the two best ranked second places of the four tournaments qualify

GROUP A: Ukraine, Cyprus, Finland, Luxembourg

Qualification Phase 2

• Group system
• 28 teams in seven groups of four
• First and second ranked teams qualify for EHF EURO 2014
• Best third ranked team from all groups qualifies for EHF EURO 2014 (taking into account matches against first and second place teams of the respective group)
• EHF EURO 2014 is the first time that defending champions do not qualify directly to the final tournament
