The national team of Norway will convene in Austria, ready for the challenge that is the EHF EURO 2010. For the fourth time in the history of the men´s national team, the Norwegians are once again at a European Championship with high expectations, hoping to surpass rank six, which is to date their best result at an ECh.
With the departure of three high profile players (Glenn Solberg, Frode Hagen and Jan Thomas Lauritzen), Coach Hedin took a relatively new line-up to the World Championship in Croatia, where the team ranked 9th. The overall opinion was that the ”new” team played very well; these athletes are back and ready to fight for a medal place and hopefully go further in this competition than ever before.

Robert Hedin
”We are really looking forward to the European Championship in Austria. With a little luck we can reach the semi-finals and for the first time, have the chance to fight for a medal.”
The former international handball player, Robert Hedin, is the head coach of the Norwegian national team. He took over from Gunnar Pettersen in October 2008 and was with the team in Croatia at the 2009 World Championship. Although Hedin was aiming for a place in the semi-finals, he had to make do ranking in the lower half of the top ten. Though Hedin spent many years in the double role as player-coach in teams such as TuS Nettelstedt-Lübbecke and TSV St. Otmar St. Gallen and most recently MT Melsungen, his career as an active player ended in 2006.
On the international scene, Robert Hedin counts his two silver medals from the 1992 and 1996 Olympics and his gold medal from the very first EHF EURO in Portugal in 1994 among his greatest achievements. During his international career he played 195 matches, scoring 335 goals for Sweden.
