With about 300,000 inhabitants the city of Aarhus is the 2nd largest city in Denmark. Surrounded by woods, sea and beaches, each of these elements provide a beautiful setting around this historic city.
With a history that goes back more than a thousand years, since the first Viking settlement, Aarhus is an old city which is still young at heart.
In Aarhus visitors can feel the pulse beat of a big city, and yet everything is easily within reach, making the city an exciting and enjoyable place all year round. Having a large student population also injects a young, lively and optimistic lifestyle which is reflected in all the daytime and night-time activities.
Among the many museums, the Old Town is a world of its own. In 2004 the new art museum ARoS opened – now one of the largest in Northern Europe.
Aarhus is brimming with art, culture and superb culinary delights.
