2012 and beyond

The Men´s and Women´s European Championships have been carried out a total of 18 times in host countries all over Europe. Sixteen of the best national teams take part in each of these events and they continue to reach new heights.

Recently published figures show a continuous upwards spiral, with the latest men´s and women´s events together achieving a total cumulative television audience in excess of 1.5 billion, which is an all-time record for the events.

The duration of the broadcasts of EHF EURO 2010 in Denmark and Norway increased substantially to a new record figure of 884 programme hours, a plus of over 75 percent against the 503 hours for the comparable EHF EURO 2008 in FYR Macedonia.


While preparations are moving fast for the 2012 event in the Netherlands and also the 2012 men's edition in Serbia, the organising countries of the 2014 events have been allocated.

 

The 2014 Men´s European Championship will take place in Denmark and the 2014 Women´s European Championship will be held in Hungary and Croatia (joint bid).
